Toshiba says the super-saturated, non-PenTile screen is comparable to other leading AMOLED technologies—by which they mean Samsung's Super AMOLED Plus —but Toshiba isn't allowed to use that brand name. Colors on the tablet's display look hyper-saturated, practically glowing. When held next to an Excite 10 and Excite 13, the Excite 7.7's images stood apart.
Along with Google Play, Tablified Market (4 stars), and Nvidia's Tegra Zone, Toshiba will add its own app discovery tool, App Place, which will point to tablet-oriented apps in the Google Play market.
The Excite 7.7's ports include a MicroSD card slot, MicroUSB jack supporting USB host mode, 3.5-mm headset jack, and a special Toshiba docking port.
